Osprey
I swore I heard an osprey today as we were biking along some pretty sheer cliffs.
Then I'm pretty sure I saw one, after it had dove for a fish, doing that quick shake of its wings to dry them off after doing the plunge.
Very cool!
Sitting in my "cubicle" of an office living viciously through your journey. Thanks for the updates, keep them coming, and above all ride safe! I need you kicking my A$$ all Cyclocross season as training motivation.
I'm here for ya Dave! Saw an osprey yesterday, fer sure. Above the Russian river; right after I was thinkin' "if I was an osprey THIS is the kind of place I'd go for lunch"...
And I'm getting really good at 12mph. we'll see if I can kick it up a notch come cross season!
Since I'm partial to osprey I guess I better strap a fish to my helmet? I don't think it would make me smell any worse than I already do. We've seen tons of turkey vultures, red tailed hawks and other raptors. We've heard owls, but haven't seen any. We have seen some huge white "poops" that I think are from owls... And it's kind of shocking, but I have not taken a photo of them - I like pictures of poop (as proof of what animals are there, unseen...)

I heard (really!) that if you put something furry on your helmet while you're riding, you will see some owls and hawks too! Up close!
