Dude - we've been biking 14 mph for 4,000 miles...wait a minute! Cross races are about 14 mph avg! I'm gonna be completely comfortable at that speed! And, of course, my cross racing bike is juuuuusst a little bit lighter than my loaded touring bike...
Those are some serious base miles, Fergie. You're either to be crushing it for cross, or still recovering!
